Things to Do in Chengdu with Kids

If your itinerary has you in Chengdu for a few days, balance visits to museums and historical sites with trips to a local park—Chengdu People’s Park or Wangjiang Tower Park, for example, make great places where kids can blow off some steam. Learn about the animal kingdom at the celebrated Zoo or Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, and visit other educational sites popular with both children and their parents, such as Jin Sha Site Museum of Chengdu, Sanxingdui Museum, Chengdu Museum, Sichuan Museum and Chuançais Museum (In this museum, visitors even can learn how to cook Sichuan cuisine with the teachers).

If you want to spend time outdoors, explore the Chengdu's nearby mountains, like Mount Qingcheng, Mount Siguniang (Four Girls Mountains) or Emei Mountain. For skiing fun in the winter and hiking adventures in the summer, visit Xiling Snow Mountain (Western Hill), a place so naturally beautiful it inspired the famous Tang Dynasty poet Dufu who wrote two lines in his poem: "The window frames the Western Hills' snow of a thousand autumns, At the door is moored, from Eastern Wu, a boat of ten thousand li."

Last but not least, if your kids are interested in the local snack, face changing show or toys, you should not miss Jinli Ancient Street.
