Jinli Ancient Street

The historic Jinli Ancient Street is a famous tourist attraction in Chengdu, located in the east of Wuhou Temple, featuring aged buildings and folk customs from this area.  

As one part of the Chengdu Wuhou Temple Museum, Jinli Street covering more than 30,000 square meters, with a total length of 550 meters. It is modern commercial pedestrian streets that embed into Chengdu antique ancient buildings which originally built in late Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and early Qing Dynasty (1644-1912).

Jinli was known as one of the oldest, the most commercially breath streets in West Sichuan, which had become famous early in Qin (221 - 206 BC), Han (202 BC-220 AD), and Three Kingdoms Period (220-260AD).

Walking in the street, the historic lanes, old official residences, vernacular dwelling, inns and shops will surround you. The elegant style of the architectures along the street will tell you what Sichuan looks like during the ancient time. Also, the Three Kingdoms Period culture and Chengdu folk are inlayed in this ancient street.

Today, after its renovation, Jinli Ancient Street has become one of the famous leisure and busy trading streets in Chengdu. There are hotels, restaurants, teahouses, local snacks stalls, bars and cafés. Meanwhile, there are numerous small stores selling handicrafts, antiques, and souvenirs such as Shu embroidery, lacquer products, folk handicrafts, old porcelain dishes, curios, or calligraphies and paintings.
