Day by Day Itinerary

    07:00 – 08:30 Meet Your Guide & Drive to Dujiangyan
    Your guide will meet you at your Chengdu hotel at 07:00. Then you'll drive approximately 1.5 hours to the Dujiangyan Panda Base.

    09:00 Registration & Change into Uniform
    Upon arrival, our guide will help you complete the registration. A staff member will explain the dos and don'ts and provide you with a uniform, gloves, and a volunteer card. The panda base will then assign a worker to guide your activities. Our tour guide will accompany you throughout the day.

    09:20 Observe Cleaning & Toss Bamboo Leaves 
    Your first task is to observe workers cleaning the panda enclosures and activity areas — sweeping out leftovers and excrement. You'll also help toss bamboo leaves to the pandas for their breakfast. (Sometimes you may assist staff in smashing bamboo stems for the pandas to eat.)

    10:30 – 11:00 Enter the Enclosure to Observe Feeding 
    You will be taken inside the panda house or enclosure to watch professional feeders feed the giant pandas.

    11:30 – 12:30 Lunch
    Lunch is served around 11:30 at the staff canteen. It's a simple Chinese boxed lunch and may not suit everyone's taste, so we suggest bringing your own favorite food if you prefer.

    13:00 – 14:00 Watch a Documentary 
    Watch a short documentary about panda protection and how to safely interact with them.

    14:00 Cut Bamboo Leaves & Make Panda Cakes
    You'll be guided to the work area to cut bamboo leaves and make panda cakes by hand.

    14:30 Receive Your Certificate 
    The volunteer program concludes around 14:30, and you'll be awarded a certificate issued by the Dujiangyan Panda Base before you leave.

    15:00 Drive Back to Chengdu 
    After volunteering, our guide and driver will take you back to your Chengdu hotel (approx. 1.5 hours).


    TIPS
    ○ The volunteer program may be canceled due to government activities, the pandas' health conditions, overbooking, etc. Please book as early as possible.

    ○ Pandas are most active in the morning, so an early start is necessary.

    ○ The above times and activities are for reference only. The actual schedule depends on the base's arrangements.

    ○ For the pandas' health, please do not wear perfume or nail polish.

    ○ Participants must be between 8 and 70 years of age.

    ○ Holding a panda for a photo is not allowed.

    ○ We suggest booking a hotel in Dujiangyan if possible, so you don't have to get up as early and drive 1.5 hours in the morning.

Private Transfers:
Between airports / railway station, hotels and scenic spots while sightseeing in the cities specified in the itinerary by the private air conditioned vehicle with driver and English-speaking guide. Separate arrivals and departures will incur extra charges.
Entrance fees:
All entrance fees to scenic spots as listed above in the itinerary. The final arrangement will be determined by local tour guides based on the local circumstances which are beyond the control of LocalChengduTours. ZTG will adhere to the original itinerary as accurately as possible.
Meals:
All meals as specified in the itinerary. “B” stands for western breakfast “L” for Chinese Lunch in local Chinese restaurant. “D” for Chinese dinner in local Chinese restaurant. The quotation is basic on the above normal meals. If you have any special request about meals, like vegetarian, or Indian food etc, please inform us in advance.
Private tour escort for Sightseeing:
Normal sightseeing activities as outlined in the Itinerary will be escorted with English-speaking guide.
The English-speaking guide and driver of each city accompany you throughout the entire tour in that city. They do not fly with you from one city to another.
Accommodation (if include Yangtze Cruiser):
Service based on two adults sharing on one standard twin/double-bed room (cabin); solo travelers or those who want to occupy one twin/double-bed room/cabin of their own are required to pay additional charge of single supplement rate. A single room (cabin) is subject to availability based on prior request at an additional cost; if the recommended hotel is not available, it will be substituted by a similar class one.
All hotels as listed in the above itinerary serve daily western or Chinese breakfast. All rooms are air-conditioned with private facilities unless specified.
Transportation:
All the domestic airfare of economy class with airport tax/ or train ticket(s) as specified in the itinerary.
