Chengdu Metro

Chengdu metro is the rapid transit system serving the Chengdu city in Western China. It is the first metro system in western China and seventh in the whole nation. For the first time in China, a city government and Ministry of Railways came into a collaboration to run a metro system. It has three main parts: the metro lines, the city railways and a light rail train.

The first line of Chengdu Metro, Line 1, was officially opened on September 27, 2010, making Chengdu the twelfth city in mainland China to open urban rail transit.

As of December 2021, Chengdu Metro has opened a total of 12 lines, with a total length of 518.96 kilometers, all using the subway system. A total of 373 stations have been put into operation and 46 transfer stations.

As of March 2023, there are a total of 8 subway lines under construction in Chengdu, with a total mileage of 178 kilometers. There are three railway lines under construction in Chengdu, totaling 168.57 kilometers. By the end of 2024, Chengdu will form a rail transit network with a total length of over 700 kilometers.
